The origin of Lime, Citrus aurantifolia, is believed to be from the East Indian Archipelago where it is found on almost all the islands. From there it is said to have spread all the way to the west coast of South America, and then to East Africa, Iran, Egypt, Arabia, and southern Europe. It is very likely that Lime seeds from Europe were brought to the West Indies and Florida after the Americas were discovered, and from there Limes spread to Texas, Mexico, California, Central America, and South America.
The aroma of Lime oil is said to have the ability to increase alertness, while the topical application of Lime oil in massage is said to have a relaxing, stress-relieving effect. It is uplifting and refreshing for the mind, especially in the case of anxiety, apathy, and depression. Lime oil is also used to treat skin issues such as acne, oily skin, and insect bites
